Congratulations on being a plotter, not a pantser. In building (or planning to build) an outline for your novel, you have joined the ranks of J.K. Rowling, William Faulkner, Joseph Heller, and Norman Mailer. On the other hand, Stephen King is a notorious pantser who has managed to write a few novels, allowing his characters to steer the plot.

Another perspective is available from Second Eyes. We read each work-in-progress excerpt at least twice. Our first read will be from start to finish, then we reread each page, identifying pivotal events and dialogue that best distinguish the central characters.
