COACHING

In a 40-year corporate, consultant, and indie writing career, Writing Coach George Pond has created training materials and computer manuals for Walt Disney World Co. More recently he has written and published trade and self-help books, and earned a Poynter ACES Editing certificate as a member of the American Copy Editing Society (ACES).

Coaching is available seven days a week, including evening sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.

Appointments can be booked up to three days in advance. This gives you time to upload an agenda, if you’d like, and allows us to prepare thoughtfully for your session!

You don’t need to plan topics in advance, but if you’d like to focus our time, feel free to consider if any of these are your current concerns:

  • Finding your voice
  • Organizing and outlining
  • Core elements of storytelling
  • Unblocking your writing flow

Another productive option is a close review of a 500–1000 word outline or excerpt. If it’s convenient, you can send over an agenda and/or excerpt through the Contact Page form. We spend 30 minutes prepping for each session to make the most of our time together.

Coaching can be done at a smartphone or desktop computer, using Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

If you have Microsoft Office, you may already be using Teams. If not, Zoom is popular with first-time users. Either of them is quick and simple to use.

There’s no need to install any programs. Just follow the link you’ll receive via email or in your online calendar.

File uploads can be done from the Checkout Page, the last step when placing an order. The top right corner of that page has a blue box with a white “Choose Files” button. When you click that button, a file selection window opens, and you can upload one or more files.

You should upload a copy, not the original file, because we do not guarantee the return of the original file.

You will receive a second email within five days of your order. It will confirm receipt of files we can read and review, or it will request that you re-upload the document.

To re-upload a file, use the form on the Contact Page. It includes a Choose File button. The order number requested there is optional but appreciated.

Policies

We reserve the right to decline services for any submitted file. We typically reject content that involves plagiarism, explicit sexual material, extreme violence, or animal cruelty. Other factors may also lead to refusal, though we won’t provide specific reasons.

If a file is declined, a full refund will be issued for that item.

Refunds are issued for individual files, and only for these reasons:

  • Service Exceptions
  • If the file is in a format our software cannot process.

We will not share your plot, character descriptions, outline, or any other content you send us unless you request that your work be shared.

You can always direct us to erase the data we hold about your work, excluding information we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Second Eyes sets aside a half-hour of “prep time” before each half-hour coaching session. To make the most of coaching, we recommend that you fill out the Talking Points form before our first meeting. That immediately gives you a set of bullet points to share with others; and Second Eyes gains insight into your project and progress. That way, our first meeting begins with focus and momentum.
